AVRA ESTIATORIO OPENS IN THE HEART OF BEVERLY HILLS
In April, Avra Estiatorio, the popular New York-based Greek eatery, opened Avra Beverly Hills (233 N Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA) marking the brand's first expansion outside of New York City and third location. Restaurateurs Nick Tsoulos, Nick Pashalis, and Marc Packer brought the famed Avra Estiatorio experience and vibrant scene to the west coast, offering diners traditional Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seafood, flown in daily from Europe. The new 11,000-square-foot restaurant with 240 seats, designed by the award-winning architecture and design firm, Rockwell Group, is reminiscent of a classic Mediterranean restaurant with a modern twist.
Avra Beverly Hills features signature dishes from the original locations in New York, including Avra Octapodi, charcoal grilled octopus and Kolokithi, crispy zucchini and eggplant chips served with homemade tzatziki sauce.
An elaborate, market-style seafood display, a nod to the popular display featured within the New York locations, allows guests to select the fish they’d like prepared. Adding to the sea-side atmosphere, a unique 1,500-pound three-piece “salt crystal” sculpture by Brooklyn artist Fernando Mastrangelo will adorn the wall of the restaurants main dining room.
Similar to the design sensibility of the Avra Madison location, Avra Beverly Hills has an expansive floor to ceiling glass entryway complimented by moss covered monumental blocks of stone. Upon entering, guests are surrounded by fresh lemon trees and beautiful greenery transporting them to a serene urban oasis. A bar and lounge is directly ahead, featuring a Dolomiti marble bar, antique mirrors, and cerused white oak walls. The main dining room ceiling is illuminated by a skylight, while ficus trees planted beneath evoke garden dining. In addition to the main dining room, a substantial outdoor dining area sits under a wood-beam trellis covered in vibrant magenta colored flowers.
Avra Beverly Hills features a private dining room elevated above the main dining room, offering guests a view of the entire space. The room can accommodate approximately 40 guests for an intimate sit down dinner and features a glass enclosed wine display with walls covered in a palm tree motif by Arte, adding to the rooms a calming ambiance. A second private space, adjacent to the main dining room, can accommodate larger cocktail parties or sit down dinners for up to 150 guests.
